Job Title: Assistant Manager, Statutory Reporting

About the Job:
LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Manager – Statutory Reporting to join our team in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with LSEG’s policies, internal controls, IFRS, and local tax and GAAP requirements. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the Legal Entity Controllership team and will require strong project management skills, technical expertise, and the ability to proactively manage key stakeholder relationships. This position reports to the Area Controller (Manager) – Statutory Reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Local Statutory and Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local statutory and tax requirements for a country or a group of countries.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external service providers to manage statutory and tax reporting.
- Annual Accounts Production:
- Take responsibility for the production of annual accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
- Entity Accounting:
- Work with various business partners to ensure legal entities are accurately, completely, and timely accounted for in the enterprise systems.
- Ensure robust controls are in place for underlying processes.
- Month-End Close:
- Ensure the month-end close process aligns with LSEG’s global reporting timetable.
- Review critical accounts to ensure they are reconciled to underlying documentation and transactions are coded accurately per LSEG and local accounting policies.
- Balance Sheet and Cost Account Analysis:
- Perform detailed analysis of all balance sheet and cost accounts.
- Participate in regional balance sheet and cost reviews.
- Audits and Reviews:
- Liaise with auditors on statutory and SOX audits.
- Provide necessary documentation and support for audit processes.
- Tax Packs and Provisions:
- Work with the Tax Department to complete tax packs, book tax provisions, and monitor tax account movements.
- Support tax audits directly or through third-party providers as agreed with the Tax Department.
- Transfer Pricing:
- Review quarterly transfer pricing calculations for Group books and perform true-up calculations for local books in conjunction with the Transfer Pricing Department.
Candidate Profile:
- Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant from a recognized professional institute (CIMA/ACCA/CA) or a Degree in Accounting/Finance from a recognized university with 5-7 years of experience.
- Candidates with part qualification/degree and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience:
- Significant experience in preparing statutory accounts across multiple entities.
- Strong background in financial accounting within a large organization.
- Proven knowledge of IFRS and accounting concepts.
- Experience managing senior stakeholders and adhering to tight reporting deadlines.
- Experience with Oracle, HFM, Blackline accounting systems.
- Ability to manage cross-geography relationships effectively.
- Skills:
- Strong Excel skills with confidence in managing complex spreadsheets.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, tailored to resonate with target audiences.
- Ability to design and operate robust reporting frameworks.
- Strong planning and prioritizing skills aligned with business needs.
- Proficiency in working according to UK work hours.
