Associate Director/ Director, Corporate Ratings, Colombo

Fitch Ratings’ Corporate group is currently seeking an Associate Director/ Director based out of our Colombo office.

Fitch Ratings’ Corporate group provides public and private ratings of companies and their debt instruments, on both the international and national rating scale. Debt instruments include bank loans, senior and subordinated debt, commercial paper and preferred stock.

We’ll Count On You To

  • Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing the credit quality of non-financial corporates in Sri Lanka, across diverse industries
  • Develop and maintaining comprehensive financial models
  • Participate in / conducting meetings with issuers’ management teams
  • Present analysis of companies to internal credit rating committees
  • Involve in communicating rating rationale to external audiences (issuers, institutional investors, and media) in meetings, conference calls, press releases and written research reports
  • Participate in the evaluation of other credits within the South- and Southeast Asia region, as well as across other related credit groups
  • Candidate will assume primary analytical responsibility for a portfolio of around 12 issuers, and back-up analytical coverage on a similar number of rated entities. The exact portfolio assumed will be tailored to suit the individual’s skills and experience and is expected to grow over time

What You Need To Have

  • Possess a degree in Finance, Business or Accounting or a Quantitative discipline
  • Between 7-10 years relevant experience preferably in a credit- or equity-research role, is required for Associate Directors
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • A strong team player and possess excellent inter-personal skills, with an ability to integrate quickly into an established team and to deal with colleagues and external parties across the Asia-Pacific region
  • Self-starter. Candidate will be expected to show initiative as well as managing and prioritising their time and work both independently and as part of a team

What Would Make You Stand Out

  • Solid analytical and financial modelling skills
  • A keen interest and knowledge of corporate industries in Sri Lanka is a plus, with a demonstrable capacity to clearly discern relevant credit issues
  • CFA charter-holders or candidates who are working towards completing the CFA exams will be considered favourably
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in the context of report writing and oral presentation
