Prabath Jayasuriya become fastest spinner to make 50 Test wickets

Prabath Jayasuriya Sri Lankan upcoming cricketer has achieved a remarkable milestone in his test cricket carrier on the final day of the 2nd Test match against Ireland. He was able to becoming the fastest spinner in Test cricket history to claim 50 wickets. In just his seventh Test, the remarkable Jayasuriya took five wickets for 174 runs in the first innings and secured his 50th wicket by having Paul Stirling caught at extra cover.

Prabath Jayasuriya is talent up coming cricket star and he already has six five-wicket hauls to his name, despite having only debuted last year in the Test series against Australia. However, what sets him apart is his record-breaking achievement in smashing a 71-year-old record previously held by West Indies’ Alf Valentine.

In 1950 Valentine made his debut and early made an impact by taking 33 wickets in just four Tests matches. as a result West Indies has won a Test series in England for the first time. The left-arm orthodox spinner then claimed his 50th wicket in the fourth Test of the West Indies tour of Australia in 1951/52, achieving this feat in just eight matches and setting a record that lasted for over 71 years.
