Salary: LKR 75,000 – 300,000 per month

Mission:

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of civil engineering installations with the best Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for Michelin’s investment projects. This role involves ensuring the quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely completion of all civil engineering works. The Civil Engineer will handle feasibility studies, design, execution, and commissioning of installations, while collaborating closely with team members, senior management, and various stakeholders within Michelin group entities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Execution:

  • Take into account, challenge, and robustify input data for studies (machine requirements, customer needs).
  • Realize and/or pilot studies related to civil engineering.
  • Participate and/or pilot the realization, installation, commissioning, and reception of installations, ensuring performance in terms of quality, cost, and delivery time.
  • Ensure optimization of specifications by challenging needs.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, deliver estimates, schedules, technical descriptions, and risk analyses.

2. Design and Documentation:

  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and engineer estimates in accordance with local standards.
  • Research and select suppliers for studies and construction phases.
  • Deliver a Basic Design file (detailed design).
  • Perform or verify assumptions, sizing calculations, and plans.
  • Challenge proposed solutions (TCO) and ensure design during technical reviews.
  • Transmit quotations, consolidated schedules, and updated risk analyses.

3. Construction Management:

  • Deliver buildings and utilities in compliance with costs, time, and quality commitments.
  • Check conformity of execution plans to specifications, evaluate performance gaps, and manage changes.
  • Participate in monitoring and ensuring workplace safety.
  • Prepare, plan, and monitor the commissioning and reception of equipment and works done.
  • Prepare end-of-project balance sheets, capitalize on lessons learned, and archive all documents.
  • Organize awareness programs for contract members within the domain.
  • Issue and follow up on Hot Work Permits and Height Work Permits, and conduct Pre-Job Analysis (PJA).

4. Project Completion and Invoicing:

  • After project completion, check and compare the final bill with the actual work done, and proceed with the payment process after obtaining relevant signatures using SAP.
  • Conduct SAP-related activities for CAPEX projects and mixing operations.
  • Manage civil-related projects at the Waste Management Center (WMC) and adhere to Quantity Survey (QS) functions while preparing BOQs.
  • Update and create plant layouts with CAD drawings.

Candidate Profile:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Professional qualifications from NDT & IET in Civil Engineering are also encouraged.
  • Preferably 2+ years of work experience in a similar role.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and MS Projects is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Sinhala.
