Position Summary:

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Kosgoda, Sri Lanka, is seeking a dedicated and service-oriented F&B Service Agent to join our team. As an F&B Service Agent, you will be responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service to our guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience. You will play a key role in maintaining the high standards of service that Sheraton is known for, from setting up tables to ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Guest Service:
    • Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests promptly and professionally.
    • Set tables according to the type of event and service standards, ensuring that everything is in place before guests arrive.
    • Answer questions regarding menu selections, offering suggestions and providing detailed descriptions of items when needed.
  2. Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with the kitchen regarding menu questions, order timing, re-cook requests, and product availability.
    • Relay additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
  3. Order Processing:
    • Record guest transactions accurately in the MICROS system at the time of order.
    • Ensure all orders are processed efficiently and are delivered to guests in a timely manner.
  4. Guest Interaction:
    • Check in with guests throughout their dining experience to ensure they are satisfied with each course and beverage.
    • Address any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues to the supervisor if necessary.
  5. Cleanliness and Maintenance:
    • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including tables, china, glassware, and utensils throughout the day.
    • Complete closing duties, such as restocking items, turning off lights, and ensuring all areas are left in a clean and orderly state.
  6. Payment Processing:
    • Present a physical and accurate check to the guest at the end of their meal and process payments using the appropriate method.
    • Ensure that all transactions are handled securely and in accordance with company policies.
  7. Adherence to Policies:
    • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and security protocols.
    • Report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions to the manager immediately and complete required safety training and certifications.
  8. Professionalism:
    • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional at all times.
    • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  9. Team Collaboration:
    • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.
    • Anticipate and address guests’ service needs, including assisting individuals with disabilities.
    • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, support the team to reach common goals, and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  10. Physical Requirements:
    • Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or for an entire work shift.
    • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance, and objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds with assistance.
    • Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
    • Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, as well as up and down stairs and/or service ramps.
    • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  11. Other Duties:
    • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors, ensuring flexibility and a willingness to assist in various areas as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Related Work Experience: At least 1 year of related work experience in a similar role, preferably within a luxury hotel or resort setting.
  • Supervisory Experience: None required.
  • License or Certification: None required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems, such as MICROS.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
