About the Job:

Brandix, a leading apparel manufacturer, is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Garment Technologist to join our dynamic team in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. As a Senior Garment Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the garment development process, from the initial tech pack stage to the final production handover. Your expertise in pattern making, grading, and garment technology will be essential in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and are delivered on time.

Scope:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager – Garment Technology, you will work closely with the Development team, the end buyer, and the sample room to manage all aspects of garment technology and pattern making. Your responsibilities will include creating patterns, overseeing the pattern making process, and ensuring that samples are produced to the correct specifications. You will also be responsible for communicating with various internal departments to ensure a seamless transition from development to production.

Responsibilities:

  1. Pattern Creation and Grading:
    • Create accurate patterns and grading according to the customer’s specifications and grading rules.
    • Ensure that patterns are developed in a manner that is feasible for production, taking into account fabric characteristics and garment construction techniques.
    • Oversee the pattern making process from the development stage to the bulk-approved stage, ensuring that final patterns are handed over to the production plant on time.
  2. Sample Development:
    • Collaborate with the Development team, sample room, and technicians to ensure that samples are produced to the correct quality and specifications.
    • Ensure the timely delivery of samples, following up on sample approval processes, and addressing any issues that arise during sample production.
    • Provide accurate ordering consumptions for trims and ensure that approved patterns are passed on to the marker maker for fabric consumption calculations.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with technicians, garment technologists, and industrial engineers to establish and maintain high-quality and technical standards for the development and production of new styles.
    • Communicate effectively with relevant internal departments, including production, quality assurance, and logistics, to deliver a comprehensive service to both the factory and the end customer.
    • Liaise with end buyers and other stakeholders to ensure that their requirements and specifications are met throughout the development and production process.
  4. Quality and Technical Standards:
    • Ensure that all patterns and garments meet the required quality standards, and that technical specifications are adhered to throughout the development and production process.
    • Implement and monitor improvements in quality and technical standards within the manufacturing facilities.
    • Address any technical issues that arise during production, working closely with the production team to find effective solutions.
  5. Problem Solving and Innovation:
    • Utilize your problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise during the pattern making and sample development process.
    • Innovate and implement new techniques and processes to improve the efficiency and quality of garment production.
    • Ensure that all tasks are completed with excellence in execution, prioritizing and managing tasks effectively under pressure.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • A Textile Degree or Diploma from a recognized institute, with a strong focus on garment technology, pattern making, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar capacity, with a deep understanding of pattern making, grading, and garment construction.
    • Experience in pattern making and grading for product categories such as t-shirts, leggings, sleepwear shirts, sleepwear pants, and men’s underwear is essential.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in using CAD systems for pattern making and grading is mandatory.
    • Strong problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to think innovatively and execute tasks with excellence.
    • Ability to read and interpret customer requirements and specifications accurately.
    • Good command of spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects efficiently.
